About KV

 

1) The Genesis of the KV 

       a)Date of opening of the KV:-31-10-1981
     b)Sector  (Civil / Defence / Project / I.H.L.) : Civil

                             

     c)District : Cachar(v) State /  U.T. : Assam 

                             
The Kendriya Vidyalaya,  Silchar was established in the year 1981 under civil sector in the 

temporary  building near India Club, Tarapur.It was shifted to the new building in the  year 1999. 

The first batch of class X students appeared the Board Examination  in the 1987.

Similarly the first batch of XII Science and XII Humanities  appeared their Board Examination in 1992 and 2001 respectively. 

At present the  Vidyalaya also has the Commerce stream opened in the session  2007-08.

TheVidyalaya is flourishing day by day and nurturing the children with  a lot of care.

 

2) Important Milestones of Growth: 

      a) In our School there is a internet facility all the computers placed in the Comp. 

         Labs and in other departments with high speed broad band connectivity.
      b) In our School there is a centre for National Institute of Open School.
      c) In our School there is installed EDUSAT by NCERT for conducting the teleconferencings.
      d) The regional activities of Silchar Region are also conducted in this school.
       e) In our school there is a CBSE examination centre for Regular and Compartmet exams.
       f) The school has been producing exellent results for many years.

3) Gradual Year Wise expansion in Classes & Section leading to present Status:

The shcool strted with single section in 1981. Then it went on expanding slowly and in the present day the following is the position of classes and sections.

                         03 Sections upto I- VI
                         04 Sections upto VII-VIII-IX
                         03 Sections in X
                         04 Sections upto XI & XII

This school is one of the biggest schools in NE and Silchar Region.

4)Details of Previous and new campus:

   Old Campus:

   The school was started in 1981 in a Temporary Building near India Club, Tarapur Silchar.

      

     New Campus:

   In 1999 the school shifted to present  campus that is  situated Opp. T.V Centre, 

     Chandmari Road, Tarapur, Silchar 03.

     

     It is well furnished building.

5)Facilities available including Games and Sports Facilitis:

    The following facitlities are available for the students and Staff of the School.

               a) Neat and Clean Toilets and Wash Rooms.

               b) A big play Ground for Football and Cricket.

               c) Badminton Court.

               d) Well equipped computer labs with broad band internet connectivity & LCD projectors.

               e) Well equipped chemistry lab, physics lab, Biology Lab, Bio-Technology Lab, Math Lab and SUPW Lab.

               f) A big library with latest magazines , jounals , news papers and a big collection of books on various topics.
